ID help on Japanese clay figure Brush Lick - signed |
Posted By: Marc Natale Posted Date: Mar 07, 2018 (07:27 PM) |
Message My wife bought this neat little ceramic figure at the estate liqudation of a WWII French war bride. He was found in the a box in the attic with other vintage clothes. etc from the 1940s. I think he's a Buddha figure, and possibly a scholar's tool "brush lick". We figure that he was brought back from Japan by the woman's US Army career Serviceman husband -- who was stationed in Japan after WWII. There's a maker's mark impressed into his back. Can anyone translate? Well, any info would be greatly appreciated. Thx ~bbz ![]() ![]() ![]() |
