Thanks for the lead... would better pictures help? One mark is raised in the material, the other is painted on. I also posted a question entitled "ID" can anyone help me there? Thanks to all who looked.

The raised marks are probably the the potter or studio which made the blank vase, the overglazed red signature is the person or place which decorated it with enamels. A better picture of both marks would help, usually this style of decoration was done by Kinkozan for the export market and was popular for many years.

Keith is correct, Kinkozan. This vase was produced from the 1880's to 1900. I have a variety of Kyoto/Satsuma wares produced by Kinkozan.

They have a very traditional japanese rustic look to them, that many in the West deem imperfection, but are very collectable.
