Can anyone help translating the calligraphy and author of this scroll? Many thanks in advance.

煙花三月下揚州
孤帆遠影碧空盡
惟見長江天際流

A FAREWELL TO MENG HAORAN
ON HIS WAY TO YANGZHOU


You have left me behind, old friend, at the Yellow Crane Terrace,
On your way to visit Yangzhou in the misty month of flowers;
Your sail, a single shadow, becomes one with the blue sky,
Till now I see only the river, on its way to heaven."

Super, I was stunned when I read the translation. It gives meaning to the way the calligraphy was written. The writer of the scroll had lost a dear friend.

Well, I have to admit that I did not translate the poem in my first message but quoted it from another source. Now after reading through the poem a bit and studied it with some Chinese translations (from old Chinese to modern Chinese) I translated it myself and post it here:

After saying farewell to me at the Yellow Crane Terrace, my old friend (Meng Haoran)departed toward the east,
On his way to Yangzhou in a March that was full of mist and flowers,
Watching the shadow of the lone sail getting further and further away until it disappeared into the end of the blue sky,
and I can only see the water of Chang Jiang continued to flow toward the edge of the sky.

The reason I did not like the original English translation because it missed some pretty important words such as "March" and "Chang Jiang".
