this vase is about 10 inches tall and appears to be handcarved.it has a glazed finish on the outside and their is a blue marking of some sort on the bottom .it has a dragon on two sides.any information would be appreciated. thanks!

You don't give close-ups that would help see the decoration, and the 'blue mark' is not in focus.

This is probably a modern piece from present Cizhou area kilns in northern China. Better photos might yield a different conclusion!

Judy thinks it is modern and from Cizhou and she may be correct. If not, your description says "carved". Such vases sold out of Hong Kong area before WWII and were sometimes referred to as "Hong Kong ivory", a composite material made from marble powder or the like. Today there are many things sold as wood carvings which are really wood resin copies from a mold that look like the original. In a similar manner, vases similar to yours could be multi-copied with this hard plaster type material. I have one in my home that is very large and intricate from the 30s. However, if yours is a hand carved from a kind of stone (not man-made), then I have no idea where it was made in China.As was said, the photos are not clear enough to tell much more. Best, Walter
