Subject:A seal from a drawing on silk
Posted By: VadimSidur Fri, Oct 02, 2026 IP: 78.208.116.2

As, the title: I recently bought at an auction a lot of drawings from the collection of a famous European designer. Among the others, there’s only one Chinese (is that correct?) drawing on silk. I’m wondering who’s the author of this, if anyone can help me. Of course, it is definitely possible it is just a souvenir, in which case my apologies. Thanks!

The picture is Chinese and depicts the so-called "One-leaf Guanyin".
One-leaf Guanyin is a form of the Bodhisattva Guanyin (one of the Thirty-Three Guanyin) depicted riding a single lotus leaf (or petal) across the waves; it is revered for protection against drowning and for ensuring safe travel and safety at sea.
Inscription,
佛光普照 Buddha's light shines everywhere
Seal,
安平之印 Seal of Peace and Tranquility
(A lucky phrase seal)

It is likely a sovenir item sold in one of the Buddhist temples that venerates the One-leaf Guanyin.
