A carving looks like created from Meiji period onward.
Cranes, turtles and dragons commonly found on Japanese ornaments and crafts are all symbols that have long been revered as auspicious motifs that bring longevity and good fortone.
On the top we can see the figure of Jurōjin, by having a crane and turtle as his attendants, he embodies the blessings of longevity.
On the bottom we can see the figure of the Fukuryū Rakan or Arhat Subdoing Dragon, a Buddhist immortal who commands dragons. He brings good luck and happiness.
