柳下亭種員記 Text by Yūkatei Tanekazu
(Rough translation of the text)
Hiroyuki Ōgata, who grew up in a place called Koshiji, robbed the wealth of the cruel rich families and distributed it to the pours; even as a robber, he was righteous. One day he picked up an abandoned small child named Isami Genko in the valley of Mt. Yahiko in Echigo Province. Later lent his support to Katamasajirō to take vengeance on Rokuyaon Gunpachi
who assassinated the child's father and family.
