Subject:Where does this vase come from
Posted By: Cosma Sat, Mar 15, 2025 IP: 109.42.176.51

We found this vase when we were clearing out. Unfortunately, we can't determine the characters and the value of the vase and hope that someone here can help us. Thank you very much

Hi there, Aaron from APEX here.
Your vase is Japanese & dates to (approximately) just before the second world war.
Despite what you may think about all of that crackling being what we in the West call Crazing, that is actually one of the defining features of Satsuma ware. So your vase is what is known as Satsuma Moriage. Moriage is that thick, almost icing-like glaze.
As for the maker, I would put through another request asking for a translation of the mark on the base because despite what I do know, I do not know how to read Japanese!
