It is a Japanese poem titled Iroha consisting of 47 kana characters, which uses each character of the Japanese alphabet (kana) exactly once (except for the character "ん" which did not exist at the time the poem was written).
いろはにほへと ちりぬるを
わかよたれそ つねならむ
うゐのおくやま けふこえて
あさきゆめみし ゑひもせす
戊申初秋 終一
樹徳上田可親敬書
As the scent of flowers shall scatter away,
who would be everlasting in our world,
climbing over a deep mountain full of vicissitudes today
I shall neither have shallow dreams nor be intoxicated
