Subject:Translation of inscription
Posted By: Cameron Thu, Mar 06, 2025 IP: 70.160.242.15

This Momoyama or early Edo chawan came in a box with an inscription that I understand refers to Hasegawa. Anyone able to translate it? Could it indicate that the chawan was once owned by Hasegawa Tōhaku, the Momoyama painter whom Hideyoshi favored?

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide!

I read the inscription on the box as follows,

初代長谷川家室蔵
古代型冬間
     抹茶碗
尾張御用陶器師

First Generation Hasegawa Family Treasure
Old-type Winter Matcha Bowl
Owari (clan) Official Potter

With regards,
I.Nagzy
