Title,
月見のたわむれ
Tsukimi no tawamure - Moon-viewing fun
Moon-viewing (Tsukimi) festival is the name of the traditional Japanese festival in honor of the autumn moon, which takes place on the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar.
In the picture, rice is ground in an oversized rice grinder to make tsukimi dumplings.
My assumption is that the lady in red with chrysanthemum crest on her kimono can only be
Chikako, Princess Kazu.
Reading and translation of the tongue-twisting waka,
月月に月見る月はおふけれど
月見る月は此月の月
Tsukizuki ni tsukimiru tsuki wa ōkeredo
tsukimiru tsuki wa kono tsuki no tsuki
Month by month there are many moons to view,
but the moon-viewing month's moon is the moon of this month
I hope that someone else can also comment it.
With regards,
I.Nagy
