Any thoughts as to the origin ( china or japan ) possible age, and what is the story it’s telling us… thanks

Oh yeah! At first glance, it looks Chinese, but the presence of cranes and the sakura motif makes me to categorize it as Japanese.

By the way, in East Asian traditions, dragons(spliting fire here) are revered as powerful and auspicious creatures. They symbolize strength, wisdom, and good fortune. The butterfly is a delicate symbol of transformation, beauty, and the fleeting nature of life. Cranes represent longevity, peace, and fidelity. Around the circle, there are cherry blossoms (sakura), which often symbolize the transient nature of life and beauty in Japanese culture.

A hug from Brazil,
Renato
