人の一生は
重荷を負ふて、遠き道を行くが如し
急ぐべからず
不自由を、常とおもへば不足なし
心に望みおこらば、困窮したる時を思い出すべし
堪忍は、無事長久の基
怒りは、敵とおもへ
勝事ばかりを知って、負くることを知らざれば、
害、其の身に到る
おのれを責めて、人をせむるな
過ぎたるにすぐれり
録東照宮訓矣
如是

Life is like carrying a heavy load on your back and going a long way. There is no need to rush. If inconvenience is taken for granted, there will be no dissatisfaction. When greed arises in your heart, remember the time when you were in pain. Lacking is better than doing too much.
