Dear Recz,
The mark reads "Kutani tsukuru" (九谷作), which translates to "made in Kutani". The term 九谷 (Kutani) literally means "nine valleys", referencing the region in Ishikawa Prefecture renowned for its porcelain, Kutani ware (九谷焼 Kutani-yaki). While this mark not confirms the piece’s origin as a really Kutani ware, it is commonly associated with the Meiji period (1868–1912), when such inscriptions were widely used for export ceramics.
Therefore, as you may know, this mark alone is not sufficient to definitively date the piece. To determine its exact period or authenticity, I recommend consulting a ceramics expert or conducting further analysis of its style, glaze, and additional markings.
Hugs from Brazil,
Renato
