Subject:Hexagonal Jar with text - Chinese or Japanese?
Posted By: liza Sat, Jan 04, 2025 IP: 80.2.119.62 I have been trying to find out the origin (Chinese or Japanese?) and the age of this Jar. It has three pannels with plant images and three with hand written text. I have not found anything similar, i.e with three panels with text neither on Google search, nor Ebay, nor Etsy. |

Posted By: liza Mon, Jan 06, 2025 Thank you so much Mr Nagy for the two translations. I am looking forward to reading the third. The poems correspond to the images of plants on the other three panels: chrysantemum, tree blossom and I think stylized bamboo. The calligraphy is beautiful and the cobalt pigment a very dark blue which made me think that the jar was quite old. The stamp resmbles the reign mark of Kangxi, but this just might be a tribute to an older work. |
