Subject:My challenge on Katsukawa Shunko Part 5
Posted By: Renato Sat, Jan 04, 2025 IP: 177.140.12.187

Dear Friends of Asian Arts Forum,

I hope you have great new year with lots of asian art discoveries.

Here I am with my burning brains with cursive kanji challenges.

This is as far I could go to understand the message. Any hint on the missing parts?

東都八景 向島夜雨- From the series Toto hakkei (Eight Views of the Eastern Capital) Mukojima yosame (Night Rain on Mukojima),

- き****を ****夜の **
- ***めく*みと
- ろの小岡(?) - Ro no ko-oka - The Little Hill of Dew
?
- 高輪亭 - Takanawa tei - Takanawa Pavilion
-悵存佑 - Chō son'yū - The Melancholy that Guards and Protects Existence [This part seams to be just my pure despair to be so dump in cursive kanji -sorry!]

Have a nice one,
Renato

東都八景
向島夜雨

きつね火を松明にして夜の雨に
神もみめくるみとしろの小田
高輪亭
後本住

Kitsunebi wo taimatsu ni shite yoru no ame ni
kami mo mimeguru mitoshiro no oda

In the night rain turning the foxfires into a torchlight,
the Gods are also looking around the small field
(rice field dedicated to them)
Takanawa-tei
Go-Honju ca, successor of the abbot

For technical reason the alternative kanas are indicated in their modern forms.

With regards,
I.Nagy
