Subject:Re: Satsuma Vase

Initially it doesn't make any sense to me, I was like "方朏ユ" what??? But after further consideration, you may notice: after the satsuma mark "田" you can read 古型, kokata), indicating that this vase was made in an older or traditional Satsuma ware design.
But, as you may see, besides the interesting raimon design (the chinese 雷纹(léi wén)- clouds and thunder pattern in the lid) it may not be a ancient satsuma work. But its look like a nice modern object to me.
Look at all this cracked surface, look at this beautiful dragon and the 花角 -Hanazumi or specially 花菱 - Hanabishi kamon - `Hanabishi'' is basically a pattern of four Chinese flowers crushed vertically...definetly is a nice piece to have in home.
I hope i could help you somehow... I am just a brazilian japanese language student, so an expert in Japanese kiln is necessary to have a professional opinion. But I would be surprised if he/she say to you its an ancient satsuma...most likely not.
