Hello,

I need some help with a Meiji era text written in cursive Japanese. It is from a print by Gekko from the early Gekko zuihitsu series.

I do not need an entire translation I only want to know who is the figure that the text talks about.

I hope someone can read this text.

Brief summary of the inscription,

A courtesan named Usugumo for a long time cherished a white cat with black spots. One evening, when the courtesan had a guest, the owner of the teahouse influenced by the bad news that had spread, stabbed the cat with a poker. With great difficulty the cat climbed upstairs to give out its soul in the hands of its owner. This is the story of the birth of Demon Cat.
