Subject:Chinese or japanese?
Posted By: Marcel Wed, Oct 02, 2024 IP: 94.255.237.177

I have this painting which is an aquarell typical of japanese edo era or chinese qing era.

However I cannot see if the signature is a japanese one or a Chinese one. Also can you name the artist itself?

Very thankful

Best regards Marcel

Most likely Chinese or possibly Korean pseudonym.
Unfortunately, the imprint of the seal, which would probably decide everything, is blurred illegibly.
Signature,
之谷畫 Painted by Zhigu (Chinese), Painted by
Jigok (Korean)

Less famous painters cannot be identified solely by their pseudonyms.

With regards,
I.Nagy
