Subject:Chinese jade medallion
Posted By: Brett Sat, Sep 21, 2024 IP: 45.95.243.41

I'm not sure how old this is but it's an interesting piece. On one side is 4 characters and on the other is a primitive dragon or lizard. It's very hard to capture in photos because of the coloration. Can anyone tell me how old and what the 4 characters say?

In my opinion this has been artificially treated to make it look old.
You would need to perform tests on the material to determine if it is actually nephrite jade.
In my opinion I believe it's most likely not jade and is a tourist type material.

Thanks I did do a scratch test and it was harder than steel. If I broke it off the necklace I could do a density test, but I want to keep it intact.

Any idea what the 4 characters say? I assume that if it was a fake it would probably be the symbols for a very old dynasty.
