Subject:Meiji era print dating
Posted By: Jonas Fri, Jul 12, 2024 IP: 86.125.208.144

hello,

Please help me read the dates.

The first one seems to be Meiji 25 and the second Meiji 30...something. I cannot tell the kanji after 30.

Many thanks,

J.

Oops, something went wrong - Correction

2,明治丗十年二月五日印刷
"丗" three 十 s lined up horizontally with underline.
The problem lies in the fact that 丗 is read as sanjū by itself, and does not need to be followed by 十 again. The incriber noticed this, so the writing of the subsequent characters for 十 and 年 got disordered somehow. At least this is my view.

Wit regards,
I.Nagy

Hello,

Many thanks. For me, it seems to be Meiji 32. So, after the thirty (丗) it seems to be a two (二) written in a cursive way. Could that be right?

All the best,

J.
