Subject:Tessai?
Posted By: Andrea Wed, Jun 26, 2024 IP: 79.19.129.54 Good morning. I read Nagy's response to Gabry (Tue, Jun 18), in which the signature and seal identify the author of the painting as Tessai. I realized I have a painting with what seems to me to be a rather similar signature. Can Nagy or anyone else confirm? Many thanks in advance for any suggestions. |

Posted By: Andrea Thu, Jun 27, 2024 Dearest Nagy, thank you very much for your indispensable help. Not knowing Chinese or Japanese, I was fooled by the simple visual similarity. For example, in the two paintings that I attach I saw some resemblance to Yanagawa Seigan's handwriting, but I did not find any correspondence in the seals that I was able to find online. Unfortunately the writing on the back is partially covered by some clumsy repair attempt. It's probably not about Seigan at all. |
