Subject:1920's image on cloth of Shinobazu pond? Titles in margins?
Posted By: Michael Fri, Aug 25, 2023 IP: 89.243.44.179

What looks to be an image on cloth of Shinubazu pond in Tokyo. Probably 1920's perhaps made of woven silk and machine made- black negative on the reverse. The image is very photographic.

Is anyone familiar with this type of wall hanging?
Can anyone translate the kangi in the margins?

Any thoughts much appreciated.
Best
Michael

right side gives the scene: Hangzhou's West Lake (not Tokyo). left side gives the maker: Hangzhou Qi Wen silk factory. Republic period. Look up "hangzhou stevengraphs" and you can find more information

Many thanks for your help. I haven't come across these before. Very interesting and beautiful views of China.

Not Japan

Try China. HangZhou, West Lake. 杭州西湖
