Posted By: BL Thu, May 18, 2023 There were two Japanese artists with the name Yoshimitsu. One with just the name Yoshimitsu (1868-1972) worked in bronze. This piece is a silver sculpture which would take him out of consideration. The other artist was Nomura Yoshimitsu (1870-1958) who was a painter. He did a number of woodblock prints and perhaps he was the one who painted the scenes on this work. Then again why wouldn't the person who made the sculpture remain unidentified? |
