I'm trying to clean up some loose ends in my collection, and this is one of my favorites. I bought it online enough years ago to have thought it bargain-priced for a piece I consider probably datable to the 18th century, Yongzheng - Qianlong reigns. Can't recall seeing anything else just like this particular piece, and its purchase predated the contemporary era of difficult-to-discern Chinese clones. So I'd welcome comments by Rat and other hard core commentators on whether I'm tracking right with my assessment.

Measurements are 12.5cm across the lid, 14.5cm across the handles and another 12.5cm up tthrough the knob.

The exterior glaze is mostly clean, though there are about a half dozen dark kiln dot scattered around the interior. Just a couple of small glaze flakes, the most obvious shown in an inset in the 2nd picture.

Here's a Zhadou (cuspidor) in the same pattern I'd missed a 2018 live auction. If the piece indeed is Kangxi-era as stated, I'd think likely from the latter years of the reign. All comments welcome, thanks.

You have a Chinese Imari equelle. It appears to be period early 18th century export ware. Gotheborg has a somewhat later form in its definition area. Butkowski Auctions has one currently for sale with a more elaborate handle made for the commonest market for these serving dishes in France.

Plasticman, I'm much obliged for your comments. First time I ever heard its western name "equelle". I pulled up the Butkowski auction and found their 28 December hammer price of that Jiaqing-era (1796-1820) example had sold for 18,000 Swedish Krona, currently equivalent to 1,719.06 US dollars.

Hi Bill H,
Your lidded jar is beautiful.
Judging by the decoration and footrim I believe that it's early Qianlong period.
The other one is Kangxi revival style.
