Du Yan 　杜嚴　1875-1938
His courtesy name was Youmei 友梅　
Native of Henan Province. In 1904 passed Imperial Examinations and got temporary position in the Hanlin Academy. Later studied at the Japanese Hosei University. In 1909 he was elected as chairman of the Henan Provincial Advisory Bureau. For most of his life he devoted himself to operate industries. He was an effective patriotic industrialist. He made important contributions to the development of modern capitalist industry in Henan. He was good at calligraphy.
