Subject:japanese art? Chinese art? Translation needed.
Posted By: Melanie Mon, May 21, 2018 IP: 104.136.248.185 I bought a few pieces of art and I'm having trouble identifying their markings. A statue has writing of words in 2 areas, and the picture has red seals. Statue looks to be a god of longevity (carved resin) and the picture is a lake view of Mt fugi (ink wash with gold details.) Could anyone translate what they say? I brought them to my favorite Chinese restaurant to have them help but they said they couldn't read it so it must be Japanese. |

Posted By: melanie Wed, May 23, 2018 Is this a God a longevity? The hair and bun are throwing me off because i only see a bald man with a high forehead (Chinese) or one with a hat (Japanese.) They are usually holding one peach and not an entire basket (assuming that is what they are.) I'm also assuming it is a resin statue and not ivory just by the yellow color. Thank you for your help. |
