Details: see thumbnails below (click on thumbnail for full image)

Details 1-3 are from a later casting of Bodhi Raj’s Indra sculpture, with the author Ian Alsop looking on, taken by the author’s friend Joseph Sewall, ca. 1974.

Detail 1: Before the Indra was cast several small images of bodhisatvas were cast and are being cleaned.

Detail 2: The mold of the Indra has been cooled and is being broken.

Detail 3: The Indra emerges from its mold.

Detail 4: A gilt copper Indra by Bodhi Raj, a special order with an accompanying vajra on the lotus held by the stem in Indra’s left hand. Collection of Alsop family Santa Fe, photo James Hart.

Detail 5: A very unusual brass Indra by Bodhi Raj, who very rarely cast this image in brass. The author found this image in the storeroom of Pushpa Raj Sakya of Oku Bahal, who introduced the authors to Bodhi Raj and Manjoti. Collection of Alsop family Santa Fe, photo James Hart.
