5: Lotus Spray This extremely old carpet contains auspicious lotus flowers, holy to Guru Rimpoche and beloved by Tibetans. The patina on the back shows extensive use and extreme age. The green stalks ( probably rhubarb-dyed) have faded equally on front and back, while the other colors have not-one sign of antiquity. The simple but pleasing design is very possibly unique. |
