Mt. Fuji painting - translation? |
Posted By: I.Nagy Posted Date: Mar 31, 2020 (08:34 AM) |
Message I checked Doi Kinkoku's signature on other pictures available on the net. I have found out that he sometimes signed his works; 錦谷作於 - Painted by Kinkoku at 霧雨居 - Kirisame-kyo - Misty residence I think somebody misread 霧雨 kirisame (on reading; mu'u) for "suiu" On your painting both signature and seal read 翠雨 Suiu (Jade rain). The problem is that I can't find reference signatures from the other artists. As of the pseudonyms, Japanese professional painters are using pseudonyms or "gagō-s", artistic names instead of their original given names. These artistic or pen-names (pseudonyms) may be retained for a lifetime, or may change from time to time. They don't use their original given names except for family register related occasions, marriage, divorce, death etc. With regards, I.Nagy Post a Response |
