Posted By: Bill H Sun, Mar 19, 2017 Based on the information provided, I would have to guess this is a modern transfer-decorated item. But perhaps you do yourself a disservice by failing to show all-over views of the plate in perfect focus. In any event, this Qianlong mark has the splayed-center feature in the "Da" (Great) character that almost always indicates a piece no older than late-19th century, as well as an apparently over-glaze seal-script mark where over-glaze marks mostly are written in clerical script on period dishes. The enamel tones also look suspiciously contemporary. |

Posted By: john Mon, Mar 20, 2017 Thanks for the info Bill, Much Appreciated. I will try load a better image. I would say in my opinion the plate/dish is definitely hand painted and is pre 1900. My understanding on ruby back period plates is that they were very rarely marked with a seal, and also i don't understand the character mark 3. 3 & 4 are the emperors reign title, but i haven't found any reference anywhere showing that mark, any help would be greatly appreciated, will get better pics tomorrow, camera not working |
