Subject:Engraved Brass Bowl with Articulated Fish in the Center

Strange bowl with engraved or etched design and an articulated fish mounted in the center. The fish has a red tongue. Surrounding the fish mounting is a name or lettering that is a regular alphabet and not Chinese or Japanese characters.
Has anyone seen anything like this. Is is from India or the Middle East, Turkish or Chinese made for the American Market. It is even old? I just cannot find anything like it. There is a piece above the fish that looks like something should have been attached to it. It is 8"
across. The inscribed letters are ERZINCAN H

There's a province in Turkey called Erzincan, where there seems to be an established industry in metal crafts. You might wish to search the name with other appropriate key words and contact some of the craft sellers to see if they recognize your bowl.

Thanks for your reply. I meant to cancel this post Actually I did a search on that name and came up with some etched brass bowls from Turkey. . Well anyway I do appreciate the time you took to respond. It seems like the Chinese items for any note are all made of bronze. When I was doing my searches I really did not come up with any old brass or copper. I think that is interesting. I wonder why that is so.

I have one of these also except it has 3 birds on top of the fish that rotate also. Have you found out anything about it? I have had problems finding info on it also.

I have one of these as well that is more intact (see photos below). Did you ever find out what it was, or what it is worth?
