Subject:Old Silk Paintings
Posted By: Ed F Tue, Aug 02, 2011 IP: 24.121.93.40 These came from an estate auction. I just love their aged look, but are they truly old? I know the pics are not very good, they are under glass & the flash reflects. |

Posted By: Bill H Wed, Aug 03, 2011 These paintings are in the style of the Thai Rattanakosin or Bangkok period (1782-1932) associated with the Chakri dynasty of kings. It may be that the subject matter reflects the epic Hindu 'Ramayana' story or Buddhistic 'Jataka' tales. The link has some additional information on the artistic style. |
