Subject:CHINESE JAR
Posted By: PKP Tue, Oct 20, 2020 IP: 2601:246:5080:700:d1 Hand painted Chinese jar with lid, phoenix bird, has 3 cracks inside, 6 1/2"h x 5"d, no marks, I would like to know how old this can be and if is worth anything |

Posted By: Bill H Thu, Oct 22, 2020 Your jar does appear to be Chinese in its depiction of the phoenixes but transfer-decorated rather than hand-painted. This is evidenced by some overlap of pattern elements and the use of flat blue washes that are devoid of attempts at modeling. Likely no older than late 20th century and possibly newer, with modest decorative value only. |
