Subject:Chinese Bronze Vessel & Mark Identification #2
Posted By: China Doll Sun, Mar 29, 2020 IP: 2600:1700:b392:4730:

Hi. Bronze is 4 & 1/2" inches wide by 3 & 1/2" inches in height. Etching surrounding this vessel is very similar to Bronze Censer that I shall try to post in this forum. Any helpful information would be most appreciated. These two vessels may have imperial connections. I am wondering what the mark means and what type of vessel this might be and any idea about age? Thank you.

玉堂清玩 - Yutang Qingwan - Refined Curios of the Jade Hall
Some bronze wares with this mark were made in the early Qing dynasty. Your one possibly could be one of the many fake Chinese bronzes made today in China.

With regards,
I.Nagy

This mark has previously come up on another Chinese bronze censer in the forum (Link) with the expert opinion of I. Nagy that it was a recent copy of the Qing originals. I would would say that yours may be about the same age, while submitting another suggested translation of 玉堂清玩 (Yu tang qing wan) as "Elegantly refined trinket of the Jade Hall".

Best regards,

Bill H.

Thank you for your help. It is greatly appreciated. This bronze was owned by the previous owner for at least 50 years. The other items from this collection are all remarkable pieces including the two jade seals that I have previously posted. I will try to post more items that need identification from this collection. Many thanks !!
