Posted By: Bill H Sun, Nov 18, 2018 That is a so-called "Temple Rubbing" from Thailand. Untold thousands were sold yearly in Bangkok to international travelers and military personnel visiting for rest and recuperation during the Vietnam War years. I believe most temples in Thailand have been protected for years from destructive practices such as making rubbings. So while there may be a few genuine rubbings on the market, most of these things found today probably are made by other than harmful processes such as physically rubbing paper over an actual old temple carving. |
