Subject:Blue and white bowl
Posted By: Lauren Hartz-Lewis Tue, May 22, 2018 IP: 2600:1700:9552:9210:

Hello. I am hoping to identify the maker's mark on the bottom of this little bowl. Any help is appreciated!

The seal script mark reads down and across from the right as "Made during the Yongzheng Reign". The Qing Imperial Yongzheng reign ran from 1723-1735 and produced some of the more celebrated porcelains of the dynasty, all made and decorated by hand. This bowl's motif and mark were applied by printed transfer, a mass-production technique not used on a commercial scale in China until the early 20th century. Your bowl probably was made for the decorative or restaurant ware market in the late 20th century or more recently.

Best regards,

Bill H.

It’s not a maker’s mark but an apocryphal mark in seal script reading 雍正年製 meaning “Yongzheng period made.” The transfer applied seal mark, decoration and overall look of your bowl suggest a late 20th century date of production.
