Subject:Identify Porcelain Plate with Possible Historical Chinese Writing
Posted By: Vicki Mon, May 21, 2018 IP: 47.32.70.202 Can someone identify the age of this plate? And I am very curious to know what the writing on front the plate means? The writing is duplicated 3 times on the front of the plate. The back has a hand painted endless knot. The entire plate seems to be hand painted. Looks as though the painting is bats and peaches. There are what looks like 2 peaches together in the middle of the plate, with a leaf separating them and a little 'creature' above the leaf? Not sure what that is but it looks like it has a tail and whiskers. And is that blueberries (3 around the circle in the middle)? |

All symbolism considered, adds up to the "Five Blessings" of "Wealth, Health, Happiness, Long Life and Complete Life", The bottom has a Buddhist "Endless Knot", symbol of the life cycle of rebirth and reincarnation. |
