Subject:Translation of Chinese Square Marks Food Warmer?
Posted By: Billy D Thu, Mar 29, 2018 IP: 70.181.51.57

Hi anyone have any idea what these marks are supposed to mean? I know one says something about Yongzheng emperor. This may be a food warmer not sure what it is. Very heavy and is trussed on inside with rectangular slabs of porcelain.

Reading of markings,
Pottery treasure made under the inspection of Tang Ying
Only for use in the Imperial Palace
Qing Yongzheng Emperor`s Authentic Appreciation
I am not sure with the reading the next one
Qing Empire Yongzheng Treasure
Made during the reign of Yongzheng in the Qing Empire

With regards,
I.Nagy

Hello Billy.
Others will know and will respond I'm sure. The work on the serpent / dragons is fantastic. Even detail of the teeth is fabulously done. Got to be at least antique with the quality and possibly much more.
As for use, I have no idea other than the inclined neck's equidistant on each corner suggest to me this was made to hold something long. A stick perhaps . I can't wait to see the answers. Best wishes David
