My reading of marking,
刻于松山 - Carved in Songshan (Sungshan)
(District of Taipei City)
庚申秋月 - Year of Metal-Monkey (...1980) Autumn Month
Seal,
囗山 (囗山) Maybe 松山 - Songshan

With regards,
I.Nagy

Could you first tell us if this ivory came from China, Japan or Korea?

I think it came from Japan, but I'm not sure.

As Ernest notes, it's best to show all salient features of the carving, so the translation can be done in proper language. The characters 松山 figure into place and surnames in Japan, as well as Taiwan.

It is better to show the item from all sides with equally sharp pictures
