Subject:Mystery vessel - 10" OVAL BASE UNUSUAL CARVED SURFACE

This posting, and another similar "jug" that I will be posting, we're purchased at the same auction, in Florida, many years ago.
This piece is approximately 10" tall, with a handle. It seems to be a carved jug, carved out of a very hard material, and then surface-carved, to create interesting, intricate designs throughout the surface. It is very heavy, seeming to be carved from, maybe, Nephrite. It shows great signs of age, at least to my eyes.
There is a large square "sign" on the oval-shaped bottom, with asian symbols - old, but somewhat readable.
I will include three photos within this posting, then more, in a subsequent posting to follow.
Any information would so appreciated, as this is a complete mystery, to me. If it is a copy, of some sort, great pains were taken, by the artist, to create a beautiful object of art.
