Subject:Please Help to Identify this pair of Asian Fans

I recently aquired this pair of asian fans at a garage sale. They were 6.00 for the pair. Any information is appreciated. I have posted pictures of both the front and back sides. They measure 12 1/2 inches tall and 5 inches wide at the widest part. Thank you and best regards....Tom

These would be very dangerous to use as fans. I think you'll find that they are shuttlecock bats for use during the Japanese girls' festivals at new years.

DOH! I guess they would be dangerous used as fans. My friend has a very large one. I've attached a picture. It was a gift. I'm not sure what it says but it is beautiful. It is about 2 1/2 ft. tall. Any thoughts on it? I looked online and they go for all kinds of prices....How do you tell a really nice one from a pooly made one?

Google "hagoita" for more info. These are basically paddles to play an indoor badmitton sort of game (Japanese).
