Posted By: Bill H Fri, Jun 02, 2017 I believe the first two characters, as read down from the top of the stack, may be 榕係 (rong xi) in the mandarin pinyin transcription. "Rong" is the banyan tree, a symbol of long life and another name for Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian Province, where banyan trees are plentiful. The character "Xi" in one sense means an "able servant" but also is used with reference to Jiangxi provincial people and language. |
