Subject:Contemporary Chinese Art - Abstract Chairman Mao.. Underground Art?

Hi, I have this rather unusual piece of artwork. It is a metal alloy with a painted and fired abstract picture.

However when rotated 90 degrees and then viewed, it looks like Chairman Mao. (See pics) - I was curious if anybody here has seen anything like it before? Whether it is an underground artist, possibly from the Stars Group or similar?

There is what could be the artists seal on the back..

Stars was 1979 or so right? This is considerably more recent than that I think and wouldn't be considered underground art I don't believe.
