Subject:Cloisonne Ginger Jar
Posted By: Bokaba Fri, May 12, 2017 IP: 2605:e000:af16:3b00: I purchased this cloisonne ginger jar at a local shop that was going out of business. I think it is probably a newer item. Any thoughts? |
Subject:It's a nice jar
Posted By: beadiste Fri, May 12, 2017 I have wondered if the older cloisonne masters who were consolidated into the Beijing Enamel Company in 1958 produced some of the very nice pieces that were manufactured during the 1960-70s, featuring traditional motifs and themes such as appear on your jar, very neatly executed in good bright enamels. Cloisonne was apparently a valuable source of foreign exchange during those decades, and there was concern that the quality of exports be high. |
