Posted By: mike Sat, Apr 20, 2013 IP: 174.108.50.34

I bought an antique vase recently, I need help identifying the makers marks. I have done lots of research and am still coming up short. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

1st and 2nd archaic words from top left are very difficult to read. Others words of the archaic seal script mark are:
永騰 ? ? 廠 (pinyin: Yong Teng ? ? Chǎng).
That means "Yong Teng ? ? Factory"
I hope this cam help you.
Cheers

This mark came up back in January (Link below), when after all was said and done, I believe Super had put it all together correctly as "Yong Sheng Cai Ci Chang" (永勝彩瓷廠), the "Yongsheng (Eternal Victory) Ornamented Porcelain Factory" (my revised translation).

Super also turned up that the factory has Hong Kong and Mainland China addresses. I checked and see it is listed in the Hong Kong Yellow Pages as being in the Hong Kong Industrial Building, off Des Voeux Road West in the Kennedy Town section of Hong Kong. This factory also has been the subject of discussion on some Mainland websites, one of which claims it dates back to the Republic Period, something I didn't try to verify, though I have read that more than one porcelain factory left the Mainland for Hong Kong and Macao after the Japanese invasion of China in 1936.

I looked at the standard characters using the etymology website, and their seal-writing equivalents appear to conform fairly well to what is showing in the mark. At least close enough for my weak eyes.

Best regards,

Bill H.

Carlos, for this kind of dish I believe you'd be better off with alibaba.com than the Asian Art Forum. We'll still be here when you turn up something antique or artsy from Asia.

Best regards,

Bill H.
