Subject:? about this Chinese box with brass inlay
Posted By: Al (Jay) Coop Fri, May 29, 2009 IP: 75.32.35.160

This is a small, rosewood box (approx. 5"x3 3/4"x2"). I thought it might have been made for a wedding, since the medallion on the top looked like a stylized "shuang-hsi"...but I'm not sure. Any help in determining the age and what it might have been used for would be much appreciated.

Brass pieces look nailed, not inlay.

Box could for gift, to hold trinket, or sell to tourist.

My guess 1920s or 1930s.

Good luck,
Cal
