Subject:Long text under Satsuma plate
Posted By: Martin Michels Tue, Oct 27, 2020 IP: 2001:1c03:5805:4100:

I found this plate somewhere on the net and was wondering what the text is. According the site the name on the left is the name of the maker(?): Toyota Kosai. But what is written on the right, especially the first character(?) on the right.
I recognize some Kanji, but most of it, I can't decipher.
And what is the name in the red pot?
Someone any idea? I.Nagy?
Thanks in advance,
Martin.

大日本 - Dainihon
帝國美術陶器 - Teikoku Bijutsu-tōki
薩摩燒畠薫製 - Satsuma-yaki Hatake Kaoru -sei
(I am not sure about the 畠(冑)character - at least the 畠 makes sense. I can't find similar character in the Dictionary of Alternative Characters with "moon" radical under it)
画附作人 - E-tsuke sakunin (Decorator)
豊田光齋 - Toyota Kōsai
Seal,
光齋 - Kōsai

With regards,
I.Nagy
