Subject:Some more chawan
Posted By: Michael S. Sat, Aug 01, 2020 IP: 2a02:8071:b6d5:cc00:

Dear Mr. Nagy, dear everyone,

I have three more chawan which challenge me. I would be very glad if you could help me with identifying the artist and may be the age of the vessel. Thank you so much.

The first one is an old Raku chawan. I don’t have a tomobako for that one. Only the seal may tell us something about the background, it must be old, probably late Meiji or Taisho period.

The second one is a Bizen chawan but I don‘t know anything about the potter.

Dear Mr. Nagy,
thank you so much. It is really great how you share your knowledge. May I ask one further question? Regarding the Bizen chawan I wonder if you can judge if the potter is Konishi Toko I, II or III. Is there any information about the age?

Dear Michael,
I don't have special knowledge about ceramics, but I can read cursive Japanese and Chinese scripts which helps me later to find out a lot from the Japanese language net or from my handbook library. Therefore,
I can't make difference between the works of Toko I,II or III. Sorry for it. I have a better grip of the paintings.

With regards,
I.Nagy
