The Katakana phonetic syllable script reads,
キルカワー　-　Kirukawaa -
It could be a transliteration of a foreign (non Japanese) name like; Kirkwal, Keerkvaal, Kirkval、Kirkwell etc.

Hi,
Lovely piece of Japanese kamakura bori.I would date this as late Meiji,sorry cannot identify the signature but there is a site you will find through Google which has a lst of the signatures of better artists of whom I would say this was one.
